Mission Statement
Universal Removal Defense Project exists to ensure that no one is silenced, separated, or deported simply because they do not speak the right language, come from the “wrong” culture, or live too far from legal help.
Across the United States, immigrants and asylum seekers are forced to navigate a complex and unforgiving legal system in languages they do not speak, in courts far from their communities, and without meaningful access to legal representation. Families are torn apart not because the law is just but because access to justice is unequal.
We are changing that.
Universal Removal Defense Project is building a nationwide, language-inclusive removal defense movement that meets people where they are regardless of language, culture, or location. By combining human-centered legal advocacy with 21st-century translation and remote service technology, we provide immigrants with the tools, understanding, and legal defense they need to fight for their right to remain with their families and communities.
We believe that language should never be a barrier to justice. Culture should never determine whether someone is heard. Geography should never decide who deserves a defense.
Through multilingual legal services, culturally competent advocacy, and modern remote representation, Universal Removal Defense Project defends immigrants in immigration courts across the country and works to restore dignity, fairness, and humanity to a system that too often denies all three.
Our work centers the most vulnerable people fleeing violence, persecution, and instability; individuals facing detention and deportation; and communities historically excluded from legal protection. We provide low-cost and pro bono immigration legal services so that the ability to pay is never the difference between safety and exile.
Universal Removal Defense Project is more than a legal services organization.
It is a movement for universal access to justice.
Together with our supporters, partners, and communities, we are building a future where all cultures are welcome, all languages are heard, and every person has the right to a fair defense.
Sincerely,
/S/ Blake Koch
